The commission process
There are a lot of solutions out there for creative projects. AI is at our fingertips and there are plenty of artists for hire.
Working with KALUOHS means that you’re committed to making something awesome. These are some FAQ, but please feel free to contact me so we can walk through the details together.
Do I need to have the whole idea ironed out first?
Not at all! The reason I call myself a “creative consultant” is because we walk through these steps together to determine the best solution for your specific needs. In certain cases, this might even mean referring you to another artist in my network who can do a better job for what you need.
Do I need to pay for the whole piece up-front?
Not if you don’t want to. For all commissions, a 50% deposit is required to get started, unless your project includes a design phase (collaborations, usually with organizations, not individuals). The remaining 50% of the project balance will be due upon completion of the project.
Alternative barters and payment plans may be negotiated on a case by case basis.
How does shipping work?
KALUOHS’ home base is Orlando, FL, so the closer you are to that, the less impactful the shipping will be. This also varies based on the weight and size of the product in question.
In the case of murals, travel expenses would be required for any out-of-CFL projects.
Can you make something and send it to a friend of mine?
YES! This is one of my favorite surprises to coordinate. If you have an idea, an inside joke, a terrible pun or other gift idea you want brought to life, this is the best way to go! No waiting for the artist to send the product to you and then you re-package it.
Just let me know what message you would want placed on a small card with the item and your care package or birthday gift is handled (and not bought from another “big box” retailer).
